SUMMARY:Working Successfully with Japan: Communication\, Decision-Making and Collaboration
DESCRIPTION:Projects involving Japan rarely fail because of a lack of professional expertise. More often\, challenges arise from differing expectations\, communication styles\, and decision-making processes. \nIn this practice-oriented workshop\, participants gain insight into common pitfalls in working with Japanese partners and develop concrete strategies for handling their own business situations more effectively. Rather than focusing on theoretical cultural knowledge\, the workshop centers on real-world business challenges and practical solutions. \nFollowing the workshop\, I support participants through three individual coaching sessions focused on their specific business cases. This one-on-one guidance ensures that the strategies developed during the workshop are successfully transferred into practice and that individual challenges can be addressed with confidence. \nContents\n\nUnderstanding the expectations and working styles of Japanese business partners\nThe role of commitments\, consensus-building\, and accountability in Japanese business culture\nHierarchy\, decision-making processes\, and informal alignment in practice\nEffective presentations for Japanese audiences\nSimulations and feedback based on realistic business scenarios\nAction planning and transfer into everyday business practice\n\nSpecific focus areas are selected and customized based on the participants’ requirements and objectives. \nBenefits\n\nIdentify culturally driven misunderstandings and potential areas of conflict at an early stage\nBetter understand and respond to the expectations of Japanese business partners\nConduct conversations\, meetings\, and negotiations more effectively\nCommunicate criticism and difficult messages constructively without undermining trust\nDevelop and implement practical solutions for participants’ own business situations\n\nMethods\n\nInteractive case studies\nSimulations and role plays\nIndividual and group exercises\nGuided self-reflection and strategic analysis\n\nNote on times\n\nAs a virtual workshop: 9 am – 12 pm and 2 pm – 5 pm\nAs in-house measure: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. incl. lunch and coffee breaks\nFollow-up: Three individual coaching sessions after the workshop\n\nNumber of participants: 3 to max. 10\nYou can book the training as an in-house measure or as a virtual training.
